The Keto Diet – Is it Right For You?

The keto diet is actually a low-carb, high-fat diet, which can be used to treat children with epilepsy who don’t repond to medication. But many people adopt this as another eating plan like intermittent fasting to lose weight.

Keto can be used to treat diabetes. It wasn’t intended for weight loss. I do not think it’s the healthiest long term solution to address it, but rather it’s being shoehorned into a situation to fix the problem.

I hate the word diet. I prefer to focus on nutrition. I see the body as an ever changing organism. Life choices and decisions can determine let’s face it what everyone thinks about when it comes to the word diet, – the size of our bodies.

Most people equate diets to being thin. Bodybuilders equate diets to tightening up the muscle mass and burning fat they built up in the off-season usually so they looked ripped on stage. Bodybuilding is unusual as it combines weight and muscle gain with periods of extreme fat loss or mass reduction.

The problem I have with keto is that is gives carbohydrates a bad rap. People think that carbs are the problem. They are not, excess calories is the issue. Perhaps the source of calories as well, many no doubt from simple sugar based carbohydrates are bad for your health.

But adequate carbohydrates are essential for your mood and your body to function.

Ketosis

The keto diet essentially forces the body into ketosis, which is where it breaks down stored fats instead of carbs. If you are looking to lose weight, this diet can be very effective. But you must understand that even though it burns up fat, it also takes away any carbohydrates that you may already be taking in.

It is also very dangerous for anyone with thyroid, liver, pancreas and gallbladder conditions.

There are many people who claim that it does not really work or has some side effects, but then there are also many people who claim that it makes them look and feel much thinner over the long-term.

Side Effects

One common side effect of this diet is bloating. At the extreme end of bloating lies constipation, stomach cramps and diarhea. These gastrointestinal issues result from the ketones produced from your liver and intestines when you refrain from carbs. Ketones are chemicals made in your liver when you don’t have enough insulin from lack of carbs to produce glucose from sugar.

In addition to the bloating problem, there is also the possibility that ketosis may lead to depression. You might feel so much better on the keto diet, but it’s also possible that you may also end up feeling depressed because of this feeling. This can happen for both adults and children with epilepsy.

The other problem with ketosis is that it may not give you the best results when it comes to losing weight. This is because ketosis will cause you to lose muscle mass. This means that your metabolism will slow down and your energy level will also be reduced. So even though you may be feeling much healthier and losing weight, you will not be burning as many calories because your body is not burning as much. Also, if you eat too much, you will still gain weight.

On top of that, ketosis may lead to high cholesterol levels because of the excessive amounts of ketones in your blood. Although this may sound like a bad thing, it really can be a bad side effect of the diet because excess ketones will actually increase the amount of bad cholesterol in your blood and thus can have bad effects such as increased bad cholesterol levels in your blood.

Long-term use of the diet will also cause problems to your digestive system. As mentioned earlier, the blood is no longer being broken down as it should be, so the colon will end up getting clogged which may result to constipation and diarrhea. This will result to a number of problems including nausea, vomiting, and stomach pains.

However, if you are considering this diet, be sure to check with your doctor first about the potential risks. Even though it does have some side effects, there are also many people who swear by the diet. You may want to consider it as one of your weight loss plans, especially if you have a child suffering from epilepsy.

If you are pregnant, you will need to make sure that you are not using any supplements or diet pills that contain any kind of ketones or certain medical conditions related to it, as they could be harmful to the baby. The reason for this is that some people believe that ketones could affect the baby’s nervous system, brain, and heart.

While the diet may have a few downsides, the good news is that it does have many upsides such as reducing inflammation and reducing the risks of developing some serious health problem such as cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. It can even help reduce your blood pressure and help to cure your anxiety.

All in all, if you are serious about losing weight and looking for a solution for your keto diet, do some research on it before deciding on the right diet. You should talk to your doctor and look at what the pros and cons of it before making a final decision.

Keto Diet Research

“The more research that’s conducted on the Ketogenic Diet, the more we will know.” This quote from a Dr. David Ludwig is the perfect example of how much more research needs to be done on the effectiveness of this diet and why it is not yet recommended for everyone.

The world of low-carb, high-protein weight loss is dominated by the ketogenic, or keto, diet. But despite its enormous popularity, many dietitians and researchers still question its safety. Many also believe it is ineffective as a long-term weight loss solution and a major reason for the increased incidences of heart disease, diabetes, obesity and other health issues.

Because of the rising concerns about diet plans and the increasing number of cases of heart diseases and diabetes, many people want to understand what makes people prone to these diseases. It could be that a healthy lifestyle such as a healthy diet is not enough in itself.

Taking genetic factors out of the equation, susceptibility to disease could be caused by a number of factors such as poor food choices, taking a lot of caffeine, drinking alcohol and smoking. However, the most common factor cited is often the lack of exercise, and a sedentary lifestyle.

People who are inactive tend to accumulate a lot of toxins and fats in their bodies, which then turn into fat deposits and become the cause of heart diseases, strokes and diabetes. This is the case with a number of the diseases mentioned above.

To begin with, scientists have yet to understand why people gain weight even when they eat less fatty acids. Another thing is that there are many people who claim that the diet does work, but still experience problems in sticking to it. They may say that the diet just lacks the necessary nutrients or they just did not follow the recommended dosage.

Because of all the conflicting reports, most people still do not think that this diet plan is really effective. Some would still like to give it a try, but are not sure whether it will work. In addition, some people who are using it to find that it can be difficult to adjust to their lifestyles because they do not know how to eat the right foods.

However, if you want to get good results from this diet plan, you have to make sure that you will do your part and follow it in a safe manner that doesn’t negatively affect your health. For instance, you have to have the right amount of protein in your diet, which is the key to a healthy life. Never put a diet over your health.

It is important that you have protein supplements because they will help you gain the energy that your body needs to function properly when doing the diet plan.
